Two vehicles were involved in an accident out in Hampton, Virginia, and the accident left one of the drivers dead from his injuries. The other man has now reportedly been charged with a DUI in the wake of the crash.
The wreck happened at the intersection where Hampton Roads Center Parkway and Magruder Boulevard come together. Reports came in that a very serious accident had taken place, and officers responded, placing the crash right around 10:42 in the evening.
The officers said that one man at the scene, though he was still alive when they got there, had serious injuries that were considered to be life-threatening. He died from those injuries while still at the scene of the crash, before the emergency crews could get him to a hospital. He was 53 years old at the time of his death.
Police said that the man who died was behind the wheel of a small sedan, and he was going down Magruder Boulevard, heading south. The other driver was on the same road, going in the opposite direction, and he was driving an SUV. He attempted to make a left-hand turn in front of the sedan, so that he could go onto Hampton Roads Center Parkway, but the two cars collided.
That second driver is 49 years old. He is now facing DUI charges, and he may face more charges in the future.
Those who have been arrested on similar charges after an accident needs to know about the DUI laws in the state and what rights they have after the charges have been leveled against them.
