Former Redskins player being sought for domestic assault

Fred Davis, who used to play tight end for the Washington Redskins, is being sought by police in connection with an alleged domestic violence assault. This report comes from the District of Columbia Police, who are looking for him, but Davis is actually a resident of Leesburg, Virginia.

Police suspect that he was involved in an assault on the second of June. It allegedly happened in the neighborhood of Adams Morgan, which has a reputation as an area with a lot of nightlife. Police say that it happened in the early morning, though an exact time for the incident was not given.

Davis was a part of the Redskins organization from 2008 to 2013, but the team has now moved on from him. He is on the free agent market.

On top of that, Davis is facing an indefinite suspension from the NFL. That ruling came down in February, when he violated the substance abuse policy that the NFL has in place for a second time. The first time, it was for using marijuana. However, Davis has said that this second case was not related to illegal drugs but to the supplements that he took. He says that a supplement had a substance in it that had been banned by the league, though he did not say exactly what that was.

The day following the announcement of that suspension, he faced charges for operating his car while he was intoxicated. This incident took place in Virginia.

Those facing assault charges -- not just those who are in the public eye -- need to be aware of their legal rights and the options that they have as the case progresses.
