Two teen boys convicted on sexting charges

Two Fairfax County, Virginia, boys were recently found guilty of a juvenile crime of taking and sending cellphone videos of themselves engaging in sexual conduct with girls. This behavior, sometimes called sexting, is increasingly widespread among many young people, some of whom don't realize that it is considered criminal conduct under the law when the pictures depict minors in sexual contexts, and that they may be responsible for creating and distributing child pornography, even if it is only pictures or videos of themselves in the nude.

Motorist accused of drunk driving after hitting bike rider

A 28-year-old female motorist has been charged with drunk driving after police claimed she struck a bicycle rider with her car in the evening in Vienna, Virginia. Police claimed that she was not capable of performing a field sobriety test and appeared intoxicated. She reportedly declined to submit to a breathalyzer test and is currently facing additional criminal charges for that refusal.

Heroin trafficking conviction results in 18-year sentence

A federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, sentenced a 41-year-old man to 18 years of incarceration after he was convicted of drug trafficking charges involving accusations that he conspired to bring heroin into the country from Ghana. His time in prison will be followed by supervised release for another 60 months after his release. The court also mandated the forfeiture of $110,000, which was said to be illegal drug proceeds.
