RONALD E. SMITH: Many people think that
criminal law is sort of a cookie-cutter approach that one size fits all. That's far from the truth. Essentially, we try to tailor each case to the needs of each individual client. A criminal court is a very dangerous place. It's a place where lives are basically shattered. I am the one person that's there to make sure that my client survives this process. No criminal case is certain. And it is a frightful process for most people to go through. And we understand that. Every case has two parts, the personal part and the legal part. The legal part means that you examine the possible legal
consequences of the action, defenses that are available, and the statutes involved. The human part involves all the witnesses, the police, and the prosecutors. My goal is to bring all of these together to achieve an appropriate outcome for the client. We've
been in this business for 30 years. We know the defenses. We know how to get and achieve the results that are needed and that are possible. I represent someone who I know that the government is trying to say is guilty. My job is to protect my client against
the government.
